About 15 to 20 percent of the time when a student replys to another student Canvas records it as an assignment submission instead of a reply. I have checked to see that they replyed corrected and they have. Has anyone else had this issue?
Hi there, @NoraMartin58 ...
Out of curiosity, do you have your discussion topic marked as a graded discussion?
How do I create a graded discussion?
This was my first thought when I read your question. I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding your question or not, but if you could check those specific discussion topics and then come back to let us know, that would be great. Thanks!
Did the student submit only a reply? Initial posts and replies both get flagged for grading.
I wondered the same thing. Students will sometimes type in a response, but not hit the button that submits it to the discussion.
@NoraMartin58 did you uncheck the option that students cannot see other responses until they submit one themselves? If that is unchecked, then a student could reply to a classmate without submitting a response to the initial prompt. Since Speedgrader shows both their submission and replies to other posts, that could explain what you are seeing.
Hi @NoraMartin58,
