Hello,
I am teaching in a cross listed course shell (4 sections, 2 are mine) and I have my gradebook filtered to show sections 3 and 4. This is working correctly.
Navigating to grades and selecting speed grader from the hamburger at the top next to the assessment name only brings up section 4's students.
If I deselect section 4 and launch the SpeedGrader I see section 3 as expected.
I tried this with "Launch SpeedGrader Filtered by Student Group" on and off.
Is there a missing piece of voodoo that I was supposed to-doo before this works correctly, is it a bug in the implementation of filters vis a vis Speed Grader, or is it a UI subversion of expectations?
Thank you

I have not seen this behavior, but another thought did come to mind. Try removing all section filters in the Gradebook. Then close out of Canvas. Reload and launch Speedgrader from the assignment page rather than the Gradebook. Does this still occur? Try launching the Speedgrader from the Gradebook without the filter. Still occurring? I'm wondering if the issue might be tied to the workflow being used and this could narrow that down.
This definitely seems odd behavior. I presume this has worked in the past for you. If it has, consider reporting this to Canvas tech support (Help menu on far left of Canvas, then select the option to Report a Problem).
Additionally our institution filters out the Report a Problem feature so I'll direct it internally.
If your previous method showed all sections, I can understand why that would be preferred. Maybe this will at least allow you to narrow the list down a little bit until figuring out why the other way is not working. That you are listed as a Teacher role means that it is more unlikely that someone at your institution messed with any settings that would cause this.

Hi Jeff,
When opening Speedgrader from the assignments page I see _all_ sections exactly as I would from the grades page if I left the results unflitered. I do not find a control either in the speedgrader itself nor in the assignments dialogs that would allow me to filter.
This isn't my goal. I am the instructor in 2 of 4 sections of a cross listed course and I'm only interested in grading my own sections.
In Speedgrader, there should be an option right under their name when you click on their name that allows you to filter for section. I'm not aware of a way to turn that feature off. Even if I filter my list in the Gradebook, then access Speedgrader from that filtered list, this option still shows up. Seen here:
If you cannot see this in Speedgrader, that is odd.
You mentioned being an instructor in 2 of 4 sections of a cross-listed course. If you went to the People page, what does it list for your Role? Are any of the other instructors of this cross-listed course also seeing the problem?
Hi Jeff,
I did indeed overlook this filter, thank you for taking the time to point it out. This is indeed working but only aggregates one section at a time, so when I sort by submission date to grade in a first in-first out manner I am frequently changing windows.
I am listed as "Teacher" in both sections. I don't know what the other instructor is doing.
