We recently switched to the New Rich Content Editor.
It used to be, when you pasted a YouTube link into the text box on a page (or wherever), a little box would appear as a placeholder (see below). Once the page was saved, the thumbnail would appear for the video.
Our system is no longer doing that with the new RCE. I paste the link, and when the page is saved, the thumbnail appears. But there is no placeholder box like above.
Just wondering if this is by design or if it is just our system? Why was this change made?

Hi @kburkes
I just tested this in a sandbox in one of my accounts, and it worked fine, See screenshot below..........

My only suggestion at this point is to submit a support ticket.
Good luck,

From what it looks like, you are using the old Rich Content Editor, so that is the expected behavior.

@kburkes ...
You are correct that it looks like the New RCE does not put that YouTube box within the page after you paste in a YouTube link and press "Enter" on your keyboard. But, after you safe the page, the thumbnail appears right below the link. Personally, I prefer to harvest the embed code from YouTube, and then in the New RCE, click on the cloud icon at the far right side of the toolset available. Paste in that embed code, and then the video will display on the screen. How do I use the menubar in the New Rich Content E... - Canvas Community
I hope this helps to answer your question. Sing out if you have any questions. Take care, stay safe, and be well.
