Hi @YvanTorres ...
I'll just add to the excellent information you received from @Ron_Bowman. Please keep in mind that Canvas does not have e-mail. Rather, the Cavnas Inbox is an internal messaging system to connect with others who are enrolled in the same courses that you are. It is different than e-mail because you cannot send messages to your friends and family from the Canvas Inbox because they are, most likely, not enrolled in the courses that you are. Similarly, you cannot receive messages from your friends and family inside the Canvas Inbox. All these kinds of communications would need to be done outside of Canvas using whatever e-mail software you have on your smart phone or computer.
All this being said, you can configure your Canvas account to get notified via e-mail when someone messages you via the Canvas Inbox. This is all done via the "Account" >> "Notifications" screen in Canvas. And, if you want, you can add additional e-mail addresses to your account so you can get notifications to those e-mail addresses, too. You can add additional e-mail addresses on the "Account" >> "Settings" screen. Once you do that, go back to your "Notifications" screen, and you'll see additional columns for each of the e-mail addresses you added from your "Settings" screen, and you can configure the frequency of those notifications there.
I hope this additional information helps to clear things up for you. Let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
