What options does Canvas have for blocking messages?
We are interested in being able to differentiate blocking teacher versus blocking student messages.
We are also interested in being able to have the options to block all student messaging for the district and/or block all student messaging at a school, class, or individual levels.
Thank you,
Hi @StevenHolst ,
Thank you for posting on the Instructure Community!
I just want to clarify: are you wanting to prevent students from messaging other students from their Canvas accounts on the Canvas Inbox? You are able to customize the permissions that students have at both the root-account level, and the sub-account level. Permissions such as 'Conversations - Can send messages to individual course members' and 'Conversations - Can send messages to entire class' allow you to customize what access you'd like to provide your students and teachers with when it comes to the Canvas Inbox feature.
I hope this helps a bit!

Thanks, Noah.
The request started as a request from a teacher to prevent a student from messaging the teacher.
After looking into the settings, I couldn't find a setting that would provide a resolution for the teachers request.
This got me thinking about student security. My broader question is more of a feature request to be able to control messaging in Canvas to prevent unmonitored conversation in Canvas. Settings that would allow/prevent control at the school, class, and/or individual level. Canvas has settings for some of this but we could take advantage of more robust options.
