student views of assignments in Canvas

Text material in the assignments I've created for my students has begun to appear distorted when my students open the assignment.  Sentences lack spacing and paragraphs are broken down. I can't fix  that on my end. My students are saying they have seen it before and that it's a "Canvas thing." 

It is preventing my students from accessing informational material.

Please advise.

I have never seen this before, but that does not mean something is not happening. However, it is hard to see what your students are seeing. Two things to help us help you:

  1. Can you get a picture of what your students are seeing? Definitely have one of them take a picture on their end, but you can also click on "Student View" in the upper right on your end to see what students see. I'd consider getting both if your "Student View" does not show the issue.
  2. So that someone could test on their end you could have share the content on this post. Here would be one easy way:
    1. Go into Edit mode.
    2. Click on the HTML editor option. It looks like < / > in the bottom right below the text window.
    3. Select All, then copy and paste into something like a Word document.
    4. Upload the word document to this conversation.

    Anyone here could then try to recreate the page on our end from that file.

Now, a word of warning. If the students are accessing it from a mobile device, that can sometimes make things look different. If they are viewing from a PC, it should look nearly identical to what you would see.
