I am a student recording videos on Canvas Studio. I have created 3 new videos this morning and they all freeze the video a few seconds into the recording. The audio is fine throughout the entire recording. I have only tried recording again. I do not know what else to try.
A few questions to see if we can help you.
1. What device are you using to record (phone, tablet, computer)? If a computer, is it a PC, Chromebook, or Mac?
2. Are you recording from within an assignment, discussion, or are you going to "Studio" in your menu and clicking on the Create button there to start recording?
3. Are you recording the screen or using a camera to record yourself?
4. Is this happening at school or at home (or both)?
Those may generate some more questions based on your answers.
We have received a few tickets about this at our institution. Noticed an instructure ticket from yesterday where they told a student that the engineering team is aware of the issue and looking for a fix. Not sure why it's not being more widely communicated, but apparently this is a known issue that they are working on.

We've been getting a lot of this also and we have about 800 students who will be recording videos from next week. I'm preparing for an avalanche of failures.
Would you know the Instructure ticket number so we can contact them directly about it?

This is happening to instructors, too. I just created a 20-minute video that is ruined because it freeze frames my face for significant portions of the video. I would like to simply use the audio without the video or replace my image with an image of the thumbnail and just have the audio, but neither of those seem to be editing options. Apparently, I am either stuck with this unflattering and confusing freeze frame video, or I have to re-record it using screen share instead. These are not good options, and this wastes my time.
I've just experienced this using the Create > Studio Capture option for a web camera recording. While the audio continues to replay just fine, the video track freezes at 3 seconds into the replay.
9/16/24 Edit: this was resolved by Canvas last week.
This is still happening as of today exactly as described by Jeff_F above.
