Hey all, I wanted to share an issue we came across today. In one of our courses with Course Pacing enabled, suddenly our students could not see any pages in it. Like when looking at Modules any pages were just gone when using Student View and for our students. This morning those pages had all been slightly edited.
So it turns out what when you edit a page in a course when Course Pacing is enabled, it removes Everyone from the Assign To section of the page. The only fix appears to be turning off Course Pacing and then going to Assign to for the page and adding Everyone back in. At that point you can turn course pacing back on and it should work. Here is a video showing the issue and that I've submitted to support. https://unomaha.yuja.com/V/Video?v=11195232&node=49872706&a=67727299
Has anyone else seen this behaviour and would anyone else like to confirm the issue in one of your courses?
Rick
Hi there!
thank you! We reported this issue to canvas as well. Hopefully we get a solution soon!! Do you know if the course pacing numbers stay the same when you turn it back on or do you have to go back in and re-add them?
I don't know if the pacing dates stayed the same or not when I turned it back on. It's not my course so I didn't know all of the details of those dates or make notes before playing around to try to find a cure. Thanks for sharing that you've seen the issue as well. Support did acknowledge that there is a known bug and they are working on it, but with not ETA of it being fixed.

Hi! I was able to confirm today that the pacing and blackout dates stuck.
also, after two weeks of hoping, we got this response to our support ticket! A fix is on its way!
“Hello, Our engineers have created a fix that has passed initial QA testing. The next step is for this fix to be deployed to our Beta environment, where it will be available for Teachers and other Administrators to test, and to ensure it is working properly before it will be added to our live Production environment. We will provide another update once the fix has been applied to the Beta environment, or if there are any other changes to its status. This ticket will remain in an "On-Hold" status at this time. We appreciate your patience throughout the process of testing and implementing a fix for this issue - if you have any questions about this message or the status of this fix, please feel free to contact Support. Thanks!

Yes, I got that message a little while ago too. 🎉 We are looking forward to testing out the fix in beta when it's ready.

Hey Rick, thanks for sharing this--I just tested with a colleague in my Course Pacing sandbox site and saw the same issue, where she lost access to the page after I edited it.
(I'm also having some more general frustrations with pages & Course Pacing, and curious if anyone else has the same. Usually we aren't going to attach dates to pages, for example, but every once in a while we do need to do that and I haven't been able to find any way of doing this in Course Pacing--the "assign to" section of the page directs me to the Course Pacing tab to do this, but no pages appear in Course Pacing even when I've pulled them into modules.)
Ellen,
Thanks for testing it out and confirming that it's not just us. We are only using Course Pacing in a few areas right now and it does seem a little flakey. But then again I understand they specify it's in active development so I suppose some bugs are to be expected. Another issue I've just been told about is that apparently you can't edit assignments after course pacing has been enabled without turning off course pacing? I haven't tested or tried to reproduce it but one of our designers let me know and I'm guessing it also has to do with the Assign to area or the assignment not letting them Save the changes.
Rick
Have you tested whether the fix was applied for this bug? Thanks!
Hi @rmurchshafer and everyone
Thankyou for identifying this! We started receiving reports from our users yesterday, with exactly the same set of circumstances.
One of our staff edited a page in a course that had course pacing enabled. Students/learners began reporting that content was not available (we mistakenly though this was related to module prerequisites, and didn't look at 'Assign to' because as has been noted it's not visible if course pacing is enabled). We ended up duplicating the non-working page and deleting it). The duplicate seemed to work ok. But we've had further reports today (possibly because we , we had further reports today.
The symptoms for students were:
"You do not have access to the requested resource."
"That page has been disabled for this course"
Student view - you do not have access...
'Assign to' missing after disabling Course Pacing
