Convert New Quizzes Item Bank into Old Quizzes Question Bank

I made the terrible mistake of creating a ton of algorithmically generated quantitative questions in an item bank on New Quizzes.  Well, New Quizzes is non-functional when it comes to downloading item analysis and using for any intelligent assessment purposes and so I need this bank to be in Old Quizzes. There is a work around going the wrong way---getting Old Quizzes banks into New Quizzes via quiz export and reimport, but what about the other way? I need to convert a New Quizzes item bank into an Old Quizzes Question Bank. You can't even export New Quizzes at all! I know now I should never have used New Quizzes in the first place--I'll never make that mistake again, but is there any way to recover from this mistake, short of re-creating all of those quiz questions in Old Quizzes?

Have you enabled new analytics in the Settings for the course?

Settings --> Feature Options 

Click on the red x next to "New Course and User Analytics" and it'll present a popup to enable or disable. 

This allows the teacher to see high, low, average, and the teacher can message students who have the "missing" or late." Hovering over the bar graph presents the number of students and names of the students in that grade range. 

 

This supplements the "Report" in the "Build" area ... which provides some interesting information. 

Please don't get me wrong, the analysis in new quizzes is weak at best. I'm not sure why I can't simply hover over the assignment in the gradebook and get the high, low, and average in a popup. There should also be a simple report which states, these were the top x number of missed questions.

Thanks, but yes, I've seen it. I need to be able to download individual question responses by student to Excel, like I can with Classic Quizzes. It seems like an obvious feature to have for New Quizzes, along with the ability to convert Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes and export New Quizzes, but apparently not as obvious as I think.

Seconding, this is an obvious feature that new quizzes ought to have, and trying to figure out how to change my course part way through the semester to work around the lack of common-sense utilities in new quizzes has been a nightmare.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. The new discussion is threaded by default on my instance.  There is no "option" for threaded. It's simply threaded. Here's a screenshot of my sample "Delete Me". You can see two replies then the replies to those replies aren't seen until you click into them, and a left sidebar opens. 

Personally, the new discussion is cleaner. 

In terms of Canvas asking its customers -- umm -- I've been contacted, had a nice video chat with a team, and was presented different options the team was working on. Maybe you could make the request.

Thanks for the information. I need for the replies to be visible all the time. I use the discussion board extensively for answering content questions and students need to be able to easily search each question and thread for those answers. That means scrolling down, viewing the questions and viewing the answers as you scroll. Currently, with the old discussion board, that is incredibly easy and useful. However, if you have to click on each thread to open it, they won't be able to easily use it for that purpose, and that's the only purpose I use the discussion board for. Even worse would be to force them to use a search dialogue box --that would be much more difficult for them since questions and answers can be rather unstructured when it comes to what students don't understand.

What are you doing with the download that cannot be done with the new download of the outcome analysis? Or are you unable to use this report because of outcomes not in your questions?

I know there needs to be alignment in the questions stored in the item banks before there will be a report. Since this takes considerable time that I don't have this semester (or the past few years), no outcomes are in my banks to test this report.

Thanks for the information. I looked at the announcement. It said the "outcomes analysis report" could be downloaded as a csv file. If that outcomes analysis report includes student by student individual question responses in a csv file, like you can do in classic quizzes, then yes, this would meet my needs. If not, then no, it doesn't meet my needs. I've avoided New Quizzes like the plague after spending a lot of time moving material there last year only to find it didn't support download, so I haven't tested that, or anything, in New Quizzes recently. Do you know first hand if that "outcomes analysis report" includes individual student question by question responses? Thanks for your help!
