After adding a module, you can assign a module to individual students or sections.
Notes:
- If a student is assigned only a specific item within a module and not the entire module, they cannot view any items in the module. However, they can view the item on applicable pages. For example, if the module item is an assignment, page, or quiz, it can be viewed on the Assignments, Pages, or Quizzes page respectively.
- If a student is assigned an entire module, but not specific items within that module, students can only view the items they are assigned.
- The "Assign To" settings is not supported in the Teacher apps.

Description
When an assignment has a section specific due date and is in a module which is assigned to another section, the calendar does not display assignments for teachers and students in the section to which the module is assigned.
Expected Behavior
Instead the calendar should display the assignments for teachers and students
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce

-
Create a module and add the assignment to the module.
-
Add an Assign To for the module assigning the module to both sections.
-

I just read this similar post, but it's different enough that there's potentially a different solution.
For one of my teachers, when the Gradebook is set to filter for a section, the SpeedGrader loses its "Showing Sections" filter. The first line of the dropdown is the first student's name instead of the filter option. The only way to get the filter back is to remove the filter in the Gradebook, then refresh the SpeedGrader. This is only happening for one of her courses - the other courses still work normally (knock wood!). It's happening for all of the assignments we've tested in that course.
The SpeedGrader section filter appears just fine when I look at her course as an admin, but I get the problem when I masquerade as the teacher. The Course Settings for this course and her other courses look identical to me. Where should I be looking?
Thanks!

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 9/11/24.
Description
When the option to “limit this user to only see fellow section users” is enabled for a student, they are unable to create new discussions.
Expected Behavior
Instead, all students regardless of section limits should be able to create new discussions as long as the course permissions allow it.
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce
Prerequisites: A course with a student enrollment that is section limited that allows students to post discussions.
-
Go to discussions page as student and click add discussion.
-
Try to save your discussion after giving it a title and description and notice nothing happens.

Within an ePortfolio section, you can create pages to add to the section. You can also add content to each page in the section. Please note that any content added to an ePortfolio can only be viewed by users who have permission in Canvas to view it, even if your ePortfolio is made public. For instance, if you add a quiz submission to your ePortfolio, your instructor can view the submission, but you do not have permission to view other student submissions.

In Canvas, we have both 'Groups' and 'Sections'—could someone provide examples or further clarification on how they differ in terms of functionality and usage within the platform?
