I agree with all the use cases that have been mentioned so far, and I myself also need to use a dark mode whenever possible. However, I'm not sure I have the time to research the privacy policy for each extension available. I also don't think it's a great idea to add an extension without knowing if they collect webpage information, if they store it, how they use it, and if they share it. For example, what information might be collected by an extension when I visit a Canvas Course Gradebook? I would much prefer for Instructure to develop this feature for their own website so we can be confident that protected information isn't being taken. An early Instructure rep mentioned the challenges behind developing a dark mode, but that was 4 years ago so maybe it's time for an Instructure team to take another look into the possibility. I've also seen that Microsoft is a Featured Partner with Instructure, so maybe they can share information. I use Outlook for Web's dark mode, and Microsoft did an excellent job implementing it without distorting the rich content I receive or type.

I'm working on a staff training site with a lot of dense information. I've started looking into the Pacing feature preview because I want to increase retention of that information by reducing how much information they can access in one sitting. The Pacing feature looks great so far, but I would love to see a way to set some kind of pacing for Pages! Currently, I can use module requirements but it doesn't quite capture what I want to do. What I can do with modules is put each Page of information in it's own module, then use the "Lock until" option to force a employee's pacing. However, this has a few problems like rolling enrollments using defined dates, as well as being unable to take advantage of modules as a way to organize information. I think the Pacing feature could be incredibly helpful for others with a similar use case if it could include restricting availability to see a Page, Assignment etc. until a certain amount of time has passed.

I'd recommend warnings be optional features that students can choose to enable/disable themselves rather than instructors deciding for the entire class. Some students need that warning, but others will have more test anxiety with warnings. Allowing students to choose whether or not to see the warning allows individuals to take control in an appropriate way and could help some students feel more confident with managing the time they have remaining. Allowing students the freedom to customize when the warning appears would help them set whatever is best for themselves. One person may prefer a 10 minute warning and a 2 minute warning rather than the 5 minute and 1 minute (60 second) ones. This would also allow individual students to decide on timings that are most helpful depending on the quiz type. For example, the 60 minute warning isn't as helpful in a 75 minute test as it is in a 120 minute test. If a test ends with Essay questions, the 5 minute warning might or might not be helpful. Then the 1 minute warning is more helpful with a last minute multiple choice question and is less helpful when responding to an essay or show your work type question.

My institution also had this issue last week. We reached out to Canvas Support and they responded on Feb. 26, 2022. I wanted to post it here for anyone else who runs into this issue in the future.
"Thank you for reaching out to us on this matter, this occured due to a problem with out jobs server on the 24th, a large back up of jobs caused some to fail during that time and that resulted in failed grade pass back for students who took new quiz exams that day. We have gone forward with refreshing these students attempts, the instructor can also do this manually by going to the Moderation page, toggling the fudge points and selecting “update score”. They are now visible within Speedgrader."

That's not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of some earlier commenters who expressed worry that the product was being developed with developers in mind, not end users, and how the author seems to be ignoring anyone who brings up that concern. Such an attitude can make the workflows unwieldy and will make instructor/user buy-in that much harder to accomplish. There are small things here and there that demonstrate just how little the end-users are considered in the development process.
For example, one of my personal pet peeves is going through the Assignment edit page, scrolling to the bottom, and clicking "Build" to edit something in the Quiz. I hate that scrolling, even though it is a small thing that I can easily do. Many users will have trouble adjusting to these workflows because they are just not designed with end-users in mind.
Another example: many of the icons within New Quizzes are missing tooltips. We may live in a society that relies heavily on technology and internet access, but there are still plenty of people that have had less resources to learn what many of us take for granted. Making assumptions that everyone should know x, y, or z about computers, or web design, or even common icons is the fastest way to alienate users and create a vocal group who are against a new product.
Adding the tooltips (or even better, clear labeling) could be an easy way to influence user buy-in. Unfortunately, that would not mesh well with Canvas' design, which seems to adhere to current trends in graphic and web design. (Those trends being minimalism at the expense of accessibility.)
[Please note these are only a couple examples to try to make a point and not a complete list of possible UX improvements or New Quizzes improvements. I do not mean to diminish any other user's comments or opinions, but to clarify my previous thoughts.]

@shaun_moon You are coming off as condescending again. You ignored most of @aleverton's comment and focused solely on their last sentence. You ignored @ldietz's concerns and focused on the one statement of hope in their follow-up comment. You seemed to completely disregard @nicole_fleetwoo's concerns with a sympathetic sounding statement and a bold assumption that they easily found your post through means other than the prominent link in the Sunsetting Classic Quizzes Q&A post.
Finally, in your closing paragraph, you completely disregarded the concerns that have been continually brought to you. This is especially obvious when you typed "while it sometimes seems like it'd be lovely if we could all agree, we know that's not going to happen. I hope that our diversity of perspectives and opinions can create a richer landscape for everyone."
You basically just told us that Instructure and the rest of us won't all agree and, since we don't work for Instructure, we don't matter. You're not hearing the concerns behind the complaints in these replies, so your actions make it apparent that the "diversity of perspectives" only extends as far as Instructure's payrolls. (Based on what you say and how you say it, I wouldn't be surprised if the diversity was limited to your own team.)
I get that some of these replies to you can be a bit surly, but the replies that we are hearing from you are not giving us confidence in the New Quizzes transition. If I can make a recommendation: hold back on the incendiary phrasing and maybe stop assuming that you know what is best for the clients your organization serves. (Also see my prior comment about Google+'s innovations and how well that worked out without consumer buy-in.) Please save the condescension for the break room.

"If I try to synthesize what your saying with Loewy's language, innovation is often just advancement without impact because it hasn't figured out how to match with opportunity and ability."
What I understood from this statement is that you believe innovation is the precursor to advancement, but this is not always the case. Innovation is certainly important, but I interpreted @kmeeusen's statement differently. I interpreted their statement as a reminder that even though innovation is needed for improvement, it does not always lead to improvement.
I am reminded of a silly viral video I saw yesterday. The video creator showed a cucumber field with small, new cucumbers starting to develop. They then took plastic molds and enclosed a few small cucumbers in these molds and left them to grow. The final result was a perfectly living, fully developed cucumber in the shape of the mold. Whomever created this mold was certainly innovative - but will this product actually lead to agricultural improvements or advancements? I do not believe so. This product is an innovative novelty and, while I could be wrong, I do not think the future of food production will turn towards food grown in novel shapes.
I do not in any way mean to imply that future developments in Canvas will be innovations without advancement in EdTech. Rather, I wanted to emphasize what I thought kmeeusen's post was trying to convey: as Instructure continues to innovate in EdTech, the development teams should carefully consider the whole scope of the project. Specifically, there should be serious consideration of how the end-users will react, what pain points might develop due to changes in workflows, and how those who dislike change can be convinced to adapt.
If an analogy of cucumbers is too far afield, consider Google+. While it had many new and subjectively better features than Facebook, it faded into oblivion because it did not give end users what they wanted and/or what they thought they needed. End users can be forced lose access to old or outdated features, and while they can be given access to new, innovative features, they cannot be forced to use them. Is innovation actually advancement if the end users don't adapt to it?

Is there a way to have the New Quizzes revert back to opening the quiz content page, but also add a tab/link in the top line that directs users to the Assignment/assign window page?
This seems like it would make both pages a little more streamlined and/or intuitive in the immediate future until Canvas developers finish with the current New Quizzes priorities.
