This is my third try to upload a simple 30 minute audio lecture using screen capture to follow a powerpoint slideshow. I am using a Mac Catalina OS and Chrome, and I worked directly from the Studio link in Canvas. When I finished recording, everything stated that the file was ready to process and upload, then it just stalled, and stalled, and stalled, then logged me out! When I logged back on this was the message I received- Again:
Why did my video upload fail?
There are a few common things that cause uploaded videos to fail processing:
- Your Quicktime file has external references. Quicktime allows you to edit videos, including adding pieces of separate video files. Unfortunately, saving from Quicktime merely references pieces of separate videos, which means that they’re not included in the file that’s uploaded.
- Your video file contains a portion of either audio or video that is not supported.
- Your video file is corrupt or its format is unidentifiable and doesn’t match the file extension.
Thinking that perhaps the content went over the MB limit, I ran a test: I tried a 1 minute recording that only showed 1 lousy slide- and the same thing happened - stall, stall, stall, then sorry- you lose!! I am incredibly frustrated and I too don't have time for this nonsense. If this fussy platform is overloaded or not working properly, then someone needs to publish a notification!
