Image added to announcement not displayed in announcement email

I added an image to an announcement, but when I received the notification email the image was not included. Is this the expected behavior for announcements?

@MikeBrinkman Yes, this is expected behavior.  There is a Feature Idea for the email notification to include the embedded images:

Let me throw my hat into the ring and say we need this feature! This is yet another feature that Blackboard had at least as far back as 2012, and here we are in 2022. Embedded images in Blackboard Announcements showed up in emails when we still used Outlook (the old Outlook program on the PC, not the online Outlook that is just the old Hotmail under a different name), and now in Gmail, so I know it's not because Gmail won't let images in Canvas Announcements show.

@bouzoukiman - Given the ideas section here is closed, I'd recommend talking to your CSM to make sure your institution's needs here are known. The whole ideas section and response has been... slow ... for a while, but it looks like progress is underway again and I'm hopeful canvas will soon have many of these small but significant gaps addressed.
