Can’t find assignment and grade in undeleted mode

I made some tweaks on the course before it disappeared such as change of due date and assigned groups to all of my students. Got messages from them saying they can’t find their grades for their assignment. Checked to see and the assignment is missing along with the grades. Looked on the history to click on the assignment link and it said it is deleted.

i did research and did the undelete button and saw a deleted version of assignment that was deleted last few weeks ago and tried that. It restored the assignment but not the grades. Tried to publish it too and it’s not showing the deleted grade still. Please help.

Hi @EmjaeD,

The "undelete" trick can definitely help with some tricky situations like this, but as you've found out here, there are a limited number of things you'll find on that page and no way to get load more or anything.  As I understand it, the undelete page was built for Canvas support to utilize many years ago, and isn't really an officially supported feature.  Word has obviously gotten out about the undelete page through the community, and if what you want is listed it usually works decently well.  The only "easy" way I know of to get additional things listed is to start restoring things you don't actually want, then reload the page and it'll list some more.  That's a very clunky workaround and could potentially make your course worse depending on what you restore.

I would advise you to contact Canvas support if your school/institution gives you access to them.  They may have some other tools to restore content, but there is really no guarantee of that.

not sure if this is the solution, but who let's see!

Dit you use the "assign to" option for this assignment? Then please check if that information is still there. When you delete and undelete an assignment, this information tends to disappear. Canvas thinks no one is supposed to complete this assignment and therefor there are no results in the gradebook. Usually the result reappear in the gradebook after you have again assigned the assignment to your students.
