Change Discussion Replies Sort Default

On this page: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-view-and-sort-discussion-replies-in-Discus... it states, "Discussion replies are sorted newest to oldest by default."

How do I change the default to be oldest to newest?

Hello,

Currently, there is no option to change the default. You must select the Sort button to change it from oldest to newest every time you go to the discussions page.

This is really annoying. I hope Canvas is working on a fix so that the default can be changed!

Agreed, this default is backwards from how a typical forum works, and not helpful for education purposes. It's important to me in my forums to read oldest first so it's easy to tell if a student's post was influenced by a previous one.

This was mostly addressed a few months ago.  Teachers can set the default sort order for each discussion, as described in the How do I create a discussion as an instructor? guide.
