Changing my name on Canvas

At the beginning of my collegiate career, Canvas asked if there were any other names--besides my birth name--that I went by, so I entered my childhood nickname. I did not realize that this was the name Canvas would choose to call me for the rest of my time in college! 

I want to change that so that my given name appears on my Canvas profile, but I don't seem to be able to do so on the "settings" tab or anything.

Try contacting the Canvas support center at your college. Perhaps the Canvas administrator for your school can change your name back to your official name.
