Correction of "date shift" error when copying course

I made a mistake with the “shift dates” widget when I copied my last semester course into my new course for next semester.  It will be a tedious job indeed to correct all the dates, manually.  I read the Canvas background material but just wanted to double-check.  I would like to copy the course (again) into my new course, but only click “Quizzes” and “Discussions.”  Would that only write over quizzes and discussions, and not create duplicates, or cause other problems?

When reimporting the same content it will overwrite the original content. Even if you reimport specifically selected content. It will only overwrite the content that you select.

If you do not have any submitted assignments and grades in the course, another option is to reset the entire course (if your institution allows), if you want to start from scratch and import the content again with the correct dates.

There are two other options that I thought I'd mention besides re-importing the quizzes and assignments. Note that I'm not sure either of them work with the new Assignments' checkpoints since my institution doesn't allow those yet.

1. The bulk update deadlines tool within Canvas:  How do I bulk update due dates and availability dates
   That allows you to change the due and availability  dates, though you need to fill each one separately
   
   
2. James' "Canvancement" to adjust dates on Google Sheets:  Adjust All Assignment Dates on One Page
   That allows you to import all assignments' dates to a Google Sheets page, edit them there, and then reupload them.
   You can also change some other things like points, published status, and "show grades at" date.
   The main advantage here though is that you can more easily copy/drag dates from one assignment to the other, and make them as formulas (such as having the due date for some assignments being equal the available from date + 7 days).

I have a question for clarification.

When you said, "new Assignments' checkpoints", did you mean "new Discussions' checkpoints?" or is there a new "new Assignments' checkpoints" feature that I have not heard of?
