MY course has been working fine up to a certain point. All of a sudden, it is not allowing students to progress or view assignments. I haven't changed anything, and this is a copy of a previous course that did not have these issues.
Hey there @BrielleBrosier ,
Did your previous course by chance have any course, term or section start / end dates set that could potentially be prohibiting your students from accessing their assignments? Also, are you using Free for Teacher or a paid Canvas account purchased by your institution? If using a school's instance, it's possible your admin set something up behind the scenes. However, if using FFT, that's something else that would need looked into.
I've checked all the dates and everything looks fine to me. My district pays for Canvas
I would reach out directly to your school district's Canvas team or IT department to see if they can locate what's going on. Can your students still access the course itself, just not the assignments within? Or has the course completely disappeared from their dashboard and they can't access it? Or, can they access it but it's in read-only mode?
Thank you for the picture! You wouldn't happen to have any requirements or pre-requisites set for those assignments, would you?
From what I see in the picture, I wonder if your student needs to submit the assignment first before continuing in the module.
Do you have Students must move through requirements in sequential order enabled? I wonder if disabling that check box (not disabling the prerequisites) would unlock it?
If you don't want to do that, you can check under that checkbox and see everything the students have to complete in order to continue on in the module, and see if there's something there that's not right?
I will try out unchecking the sequential order box and see what happens!
Hi there @BrielleBrosier ,
I wanted to reach out and see if you had a follow up. Did unchecking the sequential order box work for you?
Hope to hear from you soon, thanks!
Do you have an update that you can share with us?
Like @NoahBoswell mentioned, I have heard that sometimes, switching the "Students must move through requirements in sequential order" option off and back on solves the problem because sometimes the order of items in the module is changed or something new is added to the module.

Yes I think that helped...and I realized some of the assignment were from "Google Docs Cloud Assignments" and switching it to Google Assignments helped. It's just weird that it happened midway through the course when none of the others have been changed...
Thanks for the update, @BrielleBrosier.

Also I am noticing the ones due in October are active but the ones that say Sept 9th are grayed out.. maybe you have things turning off at a date...
I would check the box on the edit part of assignment - to make sure that none of the dates are offending or making unavailable. (it always strikes me that can be entered in an incompatible way). Also make sure it is assigned to everyone.
Also, I suggest to make sure everything is 2025.. I have more than once, copied a fall course, and totally missed that it was still set to last year.. It said Sept 9, but it was 2024 not 2025.
