There are actually a variety of ways this can be done, depending on what your school has integrated with Canvas. The most basic out-of-the-box way would be to follow the How do I record media using the Rich Content Edito... - Instructure Community - 618235 guide, which shows you how to record media from the textbox area you'll find in discussions (Canvas calls it the Rich Content Editor). If you don't see the options mentioned in that guide, that likely means your school has purchased a 3rd party video system, and in that case you'd probably need to ask your teacher for more direction because we won't really know what that system is or how your school designed it to work.
