Discussion Post Grading

Last semester when grading discussion posts in Speedgrader you only saw the students post and who they replied to...now you have to click through all replies to record how much they contributed. Why did canvas change this? It is very cumbersome for the instructor to grade. Please change the format back to what it was.

Yes, 1000% agree! I also have this same question - please change it back. Or, at least give us the option to go back to the old format, if for some reason instructors like the current format (But I agree with Katherine, it is very cumbersome to grade now in the current format!)

Hi @KatherineRosenb and @LukeBecker2010,

The SpeedGrader experience you have right now indicates your school/institution has enabled the new Discussion Checkpoints feature option.  The option was enabled for everyone as part of the January release, but was disabled.a few days later for all Canvas instances who did not request to leave it on (primarily because of the SpeedGrader experience change as far as I know).  You can see the Addressing Your Feedback on Recent Discussion Chec... - Instructure Community - 631743 post for more information about the feature and an opportunity to give feedbck about the new grading experience.  It does sound like instructure is going to make some changes or introduce some options for this, but I have no idea when that would happen or if it's a certainty at this point.
