Does Google Meet LTI 1.3 Events Sync With One's Google Calendar?

I just set up the new Google Meet LTI 1.3 in my Canvas instance.  It was a very easy and straightforward configuration.  I spent some time as a teacher using it to create a course as well as a student seeing the created meeting.  However, upon checking my own Google Calendar afterwards to look for the synced event, it was not synced with my own Google Calendar.  Nor, was it listed on the Canvas Calendar for Teacher or student, it wasn't listed in the "To Do" section either.  I did not even receive an email confirmation about creating the meeting and the student whom I invited did not receive any type of invite or confirmation either.  While it's great to have the Google Meet LTI for Canvas available, if the students cannot see it, what's the point?  The only way they can see anything about it is by clicking on the Google Meet LTI 1.3 link from the Course Navigation menu.  Currently, the teacher will have to create an additional event or post an announcement about it so the students will know.  If Google can create the ability for these meetings to sync with the teachers' and students' Google Calendars, it will be extremely helpful.

Hi @rpsimon,

Someone else had a similar question, so I'm going to paste the answer I gave them here too..

From everything I can find from Google help and testing in my own institution's Canvas, the Google Meet LTI 1.3 integration does not interact with either your Google calendar or the Canvas calendar associated with the course.  That sort of feature would be something Google would have to add to their integration code, and I have no idea if it's on their radar or not.  As of right now though, I don't believe there is anything you can do to get those meetings on a calendar automatically.

Sorry I don't have better news for you, but I hope this info helps!

-Chris
