It's a new quarter, and I need to re-upload all my external assignments from CK12 again. I teach a multi-level class, so there are MANY. Is there a shortcut to doing this? Currently I choose the external source, go to the textbook and lesson, assign it and confirm for each lesson.
Hello @ShanaFriend
Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with re-uploading your external assignments. When the new quarter hits, do your assignments disappear? Some grading period settings do take away the ability to grade past assignments, but the assignments are disappearing completely? There may be a few options for you from copying to a sandbox and importing back after the new quarter, speaking with admins at your school, etc. You could also try duplicating the assignment or moving the due date before the quarter ends that it isn't tied to a closed grading period. You may also want to speak with Canvas Support directly who can look at your specific courses and assignments. Hopefully this helps!

My apologies, I think I wasn't clear. When I copy a course from one quarter to the next, the assignments are still visible, but they are no longer linked to the external content. That is, if I publish the assignment imported from the previous quarter students can enter it and complete it, but their quiz scores from the external source no longer load into Canvas. The only fix I've found is to reload every assignment each quarter.
I was hoping that there was an easier way to relink the assignment.
Hello @ShanaFriend
Thanks for getting back to us. OK so, every new quarter you have to use a completely new Canvas course shell? You import everything over but these external assignments don't copy over? That may still be something you want to discuss with the school directly. Depending on the external tool they are linked to, there may not be a way to copy over student's progress from course to course. There may be a way, and/or it may be possible to export/import their grades or even the assignments as well. It is not ideal, but speaking directly with your school (and even Canvas Support directly) may be your best course of action here.
