Gradebook display problem

As an admin and other teachers in the course, the gradebook always displays fine for us, no matter what settings we chose.  But, we have a particular instructor where the display is all messed up if he goes into the gradebook settings and chooses to show the total and override columns.  The display of the grades is no longer centered in the field, and the box is only as wide as what needs to be displayed.  We have tried everything that we can think fo including enenrolling him and putting him back in the course. trying it from different computers, like I said it works fine for every other admin and teacher.

That is very curious.   Here are some things I recommend look into or trying:

  • when you go to People, does that person only have one Role?  Are they only a Teacher in the course? (are they not also added as Student or other role?)  Sometimes if someone has more than one role in a course, there can be conflicts.  Removing their other role and just leaving them as teacher can help.
  • If you all can't replicate the issue, then focus on the device (it may not be a Canvas issue, but a device issue).
    • Is the computer up-to-date?
    • What browser are you using?  (for me personally, I find Chrome to have the best experience).
    • Is the browser up-to-date?
    • Try clearing the cache/history of the browser.
    • Finally:  log out / re-start computer.

Hi @WillDastrup and @rtoon,

If this is a recurring issue that @Hildi_Pardo's suggestions do not solve, I'd definitely recommend that you reach out to Canvas support so they can investigate and see if there is perhaps an unanticipated character entered somewhere that's causing a conflict with the gradebook code or exactly what else could be going on.  If they figure that out, they may be able to engineer a fix for a future Canvas release.
