How do I communicate to the Canvas design staff to suggest a feature that I would find useful as an instructor?
(What I want to be able to do is to post video comments on assignments, and not have students see the comments till the grade is posted. I was told by the support line that this isn't possible.)

@JuddOwen Welcome to the community! I am a little (or a lot) confused on why support would tell you that this is not possible. If you have the policy set to "Manual" then the comments are not seen by students until the grade is posted. See the last note in the top blue area on this guide:

In answer to your question though, here is the guide on suggesting features in the Ideas area of this community:

Hope this helps!

Hi @JuddOwen ...
In addition to the great information you received from @nwilson7, I'll just add that since you are still a "New Member" here in the Community, you may not yet be able to create new Feature Ideas here in the Community. Canvas Community Managers recently made a change where New Members need to participate more in the Community before they can "rank up" (similar to "leveling up" in video games) to progress from "New Member". You can read more about this by going to:
The three Guides I point people to about creating new Feature Ideas are (one of these Nick already gave you):
Hope this will help a bit. Let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!

Ironically as I click the Welcome New Members Link, I'm told that as a new member I don't have privileges to access that link. The irony is dripping.
@JeremyWortham ...
Unfortunately, I don't think that post exists any more or it has been archived somewhere deep in the Community. Since my response was almost two years ago (to the day), it makes sense that some thing may have been archived like the "Welcome New Members" posting. I tried searching for it again, but I couldn't find it. I'd suggest you look through the "Ideas and Themes" section at this link instead:

Hope this helps in some way.
1) I would recommend that comments section not accept uploading of files or there is an option to turned it off. I am finding that students are uploading assignments into comments after the available until date has passed and expecting items to be accepted.
2) The ability to create additional course total column. In nursing, we have a course total column that only lists the key graded assignments (KGA column that only calculates quizzes and test). I would like the ability to create an additional column that would display all their quizzes and exams but also their homework grade (Course total column as well as a KGA column). Blackboard has this feature.
@Kelly_Howerton1 ...
Unfortunately, this particular topic thread isn't the place where you should be making your suggestions. Please refer to the Guides under the heading "Ideas and Themes" located at this link:

Here you will find more information about how to create new ideas, how the idea process works, and more. I hope these resources will be helpful to you.
