Hi! My course is an online film course with lots of films, clips and shorts. I am uploading them to my Canvas files but I have only 2 Modules (weeks) worth loaded and I already am at 50% of my GB allotment. Can I get more space?

Hello @N_C ...
Rather than first uploading those video files to your course "Files" area of your course, have you considered using the "Upload/Record Media" option within the RCE (Rich Content Editor)? Please check out these Guides (and especially note the information in the light blue box at the top of these documents):
- How do I upload and embed a media file from my computer in the Rich Content Editor?
- What types of media files can I upload in Canvas?
I hope this helps to clarify things for you. Please let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!

Hi @N_C,
In addition to what @Chris_Hofer suggested, you may want to ask your school/institution support team if they have some sort of video management system (like Canvas Studio, Kaltura, Panopto, etc) integrated with Canvas. If they do, that system would likely be better suited to store and stream your videos and offer more storage.

Hi @N_C,
I agree with that @Chris_Hofer and @chriscas said.
Taking storage space out of the equation, while the Canvas LMS itself does a decent job at playing back video/movie files, the LMS itself does not do it as well as other platforms such as Canvas Studio, Kaltura, or Panopto. Those platform comes with the ability to track analytics, do in-video quizzing, and better support for captions.
I would recommend that you check with your institution's Canvas team for help with how video/movie files should be used at your institution.
