Partial Credit on Quiz Items

I need to give #partial credit for multiple choice test item(s) within a quiz issues In Blackboard I can make each response have partial value automatically scored such as a=100%; b=80%; c=70%; & d=60% and no response=0%. In Canvas if the student responds with anything other than "a" or the "correct answer" the result is 0%. I contacted the Canvas chat and was told they have no option for partial credit for quiz items and faculty will have to grade each item/student manually, if you have large numbers of students this is a sorely needed element. I understand if other people wish to use partial credit process that they have to "vote" to make this happen. Please vote to have Canvas make this option available. Also if any one can help me with a work around other than grading each item individually for each student please provide that to me and also please vote to get Canvas to add this option as a priority in their revisions. Thank you.

 @jdbaker , on the assumption that you're using Canvas (classic) Quizzes, the advice the Canvas Support agent provided is accurate. However, it's not necessary to vote on this, because this is existing functionality in our new quiz tool, Quizzes.Next. Using Q.N, instructors can create multiple-choice questions such that each response has a different point value—and this accommodates the scenario you've described. Please refer to How do I create a Multiple Choice question in Quizzes.Next? 

If your school hasn't yet made Quizzes.Next available for user testing, please reach out to the Canvas admin at the school for additional guidance.

https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13136-415243379 I just created a quiz and the Multiple Answers option works for partial credit, but it also deducts for wrong choices. So the dynamics change depending on the number of correct answer choices and the number of correct answers.

Can you clarify,  @leighanne_smith ? I was envisioning this as a Multiple Choice rather than a Multiple Answers question type. Here's the relevant excerpt from the MC lesson:

To vary points based on student responses, click the Vary points by answer checkbox [1].

With this option selected, you can set specific point totals for each option by typing the point value in the Points field [2] or using the arrows to increase or decrease the point value [3].

When this option is enabled, the total points will display the highest point value possible for an answer [4].

This 'solution' is not what is needed. What I need is the following: a Multiple Choice question where student chooses only ONE answer, but each choice has is its own value. For instance, suppose there are three possible answers to a question: A, B, and C. Answer A carries 50%, Answer B carries 75% and Answer C carries 100%.  Currently, C would incur 100%, and any other answer would incur 0%. So, please, revive this issue and provide a solution if possible.

Frankly, I'm tired of being told to bring something to a vote.

Canvas presents itself as a company whose product is supposed to help educators do their job.  I should not have to grovel before the Canvas Voting Board, begging for what are basic tools and skills in my profession.  The Canvas Team should either know what I need already and include it in its program or they should admit they do not know what they are doing -- or, are not doing it well -- and, get out of the business.

Quizzes.Next = next carrot to keep institutions on the hook.

I so agree. After using Moodle and Blackboard, using Canvas feels such a downgrading.
