Private Canvas Course

I'm wondering if it's possible for me to make a copy of a Canvas course without having a course assigned by my institution associated with it. I want to share the content with a colleague without inviting them to my active course. I have a sandbox course that was created for me, but since I'm trying to share a whole course, I don't want to import that into my sandbox. Is there a way for me to create this myself?

This is a great question! 

Do you know if your school uses Commons? If so, You can actually upload all of your course content to commons and your fellow instructor that are just looking to copy content, can access and download it into their courses. 

Some other options I thought of: 

• You can always export a copy of your course into a ZIP file and email it to them. HERE is a guide on how to export course content. 
• As far as a Private course not issued by your institution, you can always use the free for teacher instance. This of course would be a separate instance outside of your regular instance that you can use to store the content outside of your institutions instance. 
• You can always try to add them to the sandbox course if you want. Or you could see if your admin could create a Sandbox course and add the colleagues to it. You would want to add them as teachers to the course to give them the ability to copy the content.
