Hi everyone, I have a question about security and activity tracking on Canvas during exams. Does Canvas track when we switch tabs or close the window? And is there any difference in this between Canvas Demo and the full version? Also, is there any other product besides Proctorio that can provide this kind of information? I just want to be clear on how it works to avoid any misunderstandings. Thanks!

Hi @alejopiaget,
For Canvas "Classic Quizzes", there is a quiz log feature that can be used. More information can be found out about it at the links below:
For Canvas "New Quizzes", there is a log found in the "Moderate" area.

There are several other virtual proctoring solutions that are compatible with Canvas. Two that are common are Respondus LockDown Browser (and its additional optional Respondus Monitor add-on) and Honorlock. I do not have experience with Honorlock but I can tell you that Respondus LockDown Browser does not have with logs like what Canvas provides.

Hi @alejopiaget , @dbrace is quite right, however the T&Cs for Canvas Quiz logging (as I remember them) suggest that these shouldn't be used as evidence for academic malpractice.
We have also seen enough anomalies to know that the data is not always 100%, and we have seen unexplained data 'voids' - even in the face of very strong evidence that the student concerned was active....

@paul_fynn, while I cannot speak to Canvas' Terms and Conditions (T&C), what you said is mentioned in the "Notes" (the first in the list) of How do I view a quiz log for a student?.
