Refresh on In-box/conversations changed browser tab

Like many of you I was hoping that the inbox/conversations refresh would include the rich-text-editor, which it did not. It did, however, change the browser tab so that it no longer says "Inbox", but now says "Canvas LMS" which is sort of annoying.

This would be news to me if Instructure had added the RCE (Rich Content Editor) to the Canvas Inbox.  I've not heard that this was a recent project on their radar, and I don't see it listed anywhere on their Canvas Product Roadmap - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).

Also, I just checked my Canvas instance, and the "Inbox" icon on the far left-hand side global navigation menu still says "Inbox"...not "Canvas LMS".  I wonder if your school's Canvas administrator(s) or folks from their Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Education department made a decision to change this wording for some reason?  If so, I wonder why they would do that...as all Canvas documentation refers to it as the "Inbox".  You might want to have a conversation with folks at your school about this.

Hi Chris. As for the RCE, I was only hoping (as I've read the requests as far back as 2016). The tab I'm talking about is the browser tab. It has always said "Inbox", it now says Canvas LMS. I'll try uploading a picture, again.

Thanks for sharing that screenshot.  Very interesting.  I also see "Canvas LMS" on my tab...just like you do.  The only recent updates to the Inbox that I see documented are listed here:

But, I don't see any reference to the "Canvas LMS" label that is displayed on our tabs.  Maybe this slipped through the cracks as undocumented...or was an unintended change???  Who knows.

Maybe it would be good for you to submit a ticket to the Canvas Help Desk folks about this so that they can look into it a bit more.  I agree...it would be nice to have this back to "Inbox" so that it's consistent with other labels when you click on those areas of Canvas.

@sgilbert, thank you for starting this conversation. This definitely was not an intended change. We've created a ticket for our engineering team to update to once again show Inbox as expected. Please watch our deploy notes for when this is updated.
