Sentry issues?

Has anyone noticed any problems introduced by Canvas now using Sentry? Right now, sentry.insops.net itself seems to be producing errors, which seems an unfortunate dependency.

I am not familiar with Sentry. Can we have you clarify what that is and how it is being used in your Canvas account? 

What errors is it producing now for you?

I haven't seen any issues reported by users, but I also saw it in the network inspector; it stands out since it's being blocked by my ad blocker. Since I saw no documentation of it, I was concerned that it might indicate a compromise at some level (Instructure, a vendor like cidi-labs, or our own js)

Looking at how it's injected, it appears to be coming from Instructure - it's configured in the ENV = {} tag in each page load, so it is coming directly from Instructure.

That lead me to look at the Canvas-LMS source code - it looks like it's being used for various customer experience tracking tasks:

I for one am so glad that we have the github repo!

If you look at your network panel in your browser, you should see it getting loaded by the native Canvas code.
