Last year using canvas I used to be able to filter by date and it the gradebook would only give me the total grade for assignments within the filtered date range. This no longer works and I cannot figure out a way to filter so that only certain grade date ranges are calculated for a final quarter grade.
Has anyone solved this?

Hi @TylerPellegrin,
If you're using a school/institution paid version of Canvas, your local Canvas admin team should be able to set up grading periods for each quarter/semester. With grading periods, you should be able to filter and see a total grade for just that period. Unfortunately, grading periods aren't something that is available for teachers to customize in an individual course and aren't available in the free-for-teacher Canvas version, but this might be how things worked for you in the past and something one of your admins forgot to set up this year.

Thanks for pointing this out. Maybe it's worth submitting a support ticket...
Being able to view columns in a date range is still useful, but seeing a total for that range would be valuable.
One caveat would be with assignment groups where not all groups are represented in the chosen range
Hi @TylerPellegrin,
I just went into one of my courses, it's "Grades" area, and I was able to use the "Apply Filters" option to filter by "Start & End Date".
Please see How do I create and manage filters in the Gradebook? - Instructure Community - 577028 .
Is that what you are trying to do?

Yes, you can filter to columns in a specific date range, but the problem Tyler identified is that the grade total columns are not calculated based on the chosen date range...
Thank you for clarifying @BrianLester.
@TylerPellegrin, I would encourage you to contact Canvas Support directly so that this can be reported as a problem.
If they do not consider it to be a problem, it would need to be submitted as an Idea.
