Speedgrader speed issues.

Starting up another semester, and it seems like there is something with the frontend or otherwise the stack that Canvas has changed that is affecting Speedgrader and making the overall experience slower:

• My students turn in a lot of links to Word docs (share links). It takes a long time to load the inner window (even though all the inner window says is "open link in another window)".
  • Maybe the system trying to generate the preview for the word doc (even though it won't be able to because the share permissions on the shared word doc won't let it) is taking longer than it used to?
  • Is there a way to tell Speedgrader to not try to generate a preview and just give me the link?
• Submitting a comment takes significantly longer than it used to
• It takes a long time for the system to updated the "reassign" button (update from "reassigning..." to "reassigned") but it does seem like this is taking a long time because the preview generation attempt for the link is blocking the process

Are you still having slow loading issues? I know Canvas had long load times on Monday, August 26 which his the first day of many institutions. If you are still having load issues see if other assignments (not share link) is doing the same thing and contact Canvas Support to look into it.
