Students viewing attendance

Hello! I see that the one time this question was previously asked (over a year ago), the question was noted and shelved for a future upgrade. 

But this is important: While some institutions have canvas packages that allow students not only to see their attendance but to mark themselves absent or present (?), my institution's package does not allow students to see their attendance at all. This is a problem for students and for faculty, and it seems to me that students have a right to the record of this information. Is there a way to make attendance visible in every package?

Thanks for posting this in the Canvas Community! 

I know that the Students can see the Roll Call attendance assignment from the assignments page in the course and this will allow them to view a report of their attendance record. HERE is the Canvas guide on that from the students perspective. 

• The assignment becomes available after your take roll for the first time. 
• The Roll Call Attendance tool in Canvas currently does not allow for students to mark themselves. You mentioned that some institutions have packages that allow them to do this. Were they possibly using another tool or LTI for this possibly?
