Is there some way  for students to upload documents to Canvas?

After experimenting with Speed Grader, I've decided to change my process. Students will upload essays to the Assignments page, and I will grade them in Speed Grader. So, no more paper.

Hi  @nreesor  Welcome to the Canvas Community.

There are a few ways that students can do this, it all depends on the purpose. Here are some examples:

Sing out if you need a hand.

I want students to be able to upload documents, which I can then download. I don't want every student to upload a document for an assignment. I only want students who are turning in assignments late to upload them. But then I need to be able to download them. So, I don't want to use the Assignments option. But there's nothing in the Files information that says whether or not *I* can download files that *students* upload to *their* file space.

Hi  @nreesor  Thank You for your reply.

Once someone has shared their file in Canvas it ought to be downloadable by you. I will confirm that though.

Hi  @nreesor

You can download student file submissions for assignments. Learn more at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13086-415255025

I don’t want to use the upload feature on the Assignment page because I prefer students give me printed essays. I only want students to upload their essays if they turn them in late and cannot give me a printed copy before the next class.

Hi again,  @nreesor

The links to instructions above for students to upload their assignment submissions will work just fine for your needs.

I hope this is helpful,
