I am a World Language teacher and want to know if there is an option to have questions on a quiz in which the students can record answering a question or giving details to a picture. We are transitioning to Canvas and I'm currently using Formative to assess my students all the skills that are required to speak another language, but i cannot find that on Canvas.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes! When you make a quiz in Canvas, make a quiz question an Essay Question -- then students can use the Rich Content Editor to record their answer and submit it.
For describing pictures, the Stimulus type of question can be combined with an Essay Question.
Hope this helps!

I would recommend setting this question as an 'Assignment.' With an assignment, you have the option to set the submission type as 'media recording.
Another great solution is to use 📔Canvas Studio as the submission type. Canvas Studio allows you to leave comments at specific times on the student video/audio submission. Please take a look at this article, which shows you the options and features in SpeedGrader when a student submits a Canvas Studio recording 📔How do I grade Canvas Studio media submissions in SpeedGrader as an instructor?
