Does anyone have a suggestion concerning presenting bot proof check in activity for a 1st day of college online class?

Thanks for respoding.

My check in activity for 1st day has asked my fully online students to offer a brief self- introduction, download a you tube music video, and offer a brief explanation of why this video is uplifting in some way.

I'm hoping this will be enough to ensure no bots try to join. Are there other types of 1st day check ins that might also suffice or be a bit better?

Hi @dtaras,

Every institution deals with this differently because of the tools/systems that they subscribe to.

What you have done is a decent starting point. If you have access to them, I would recommend incorporating something like:

1. a quiz/test/exam that uses virtual proctoring and requires students to use their webcam to record themself (some of my faculty do this with their syllabus quiz, which also helps to make sure that students have devices - or access to them, such as in a library - that are compatible with our institution's virtual proctoring solution)
2. a discussion forum where students introduce themself by recording themself on their webcam (some of my faculty do this using Canvas Studio, an additional tool that we subscribe too)

Others in the community may have other examples but these are two possibilities to consider.
