locating links to a specific file

I would like to see where a specific file is used/linked in my course.

How do I go about it?

I can find files in the search function in the files view. It doesn't tell me where they are used.

It would also be helpful if it would show in which folder this file is stored.

I really miss a general search function for content in my Canvas course.

Hi there, @irmim ...

There is a product called TidyUP creaed by Cidi Labs that you might want to investigate further.  Not only can it help with file clean-up, but it can identify where files are used within your course...including letting you know which folders within your course "Files" screen that those files are located in.  There is a cost for TidyUP, so you would have to have a discussion with Canvas administrators at your school to see if purchasing might be an option.  It would be something that is added to your school's entire Canvas account ... so that all instructors at your school had access to it.  Here's more information for you:
