Videos/Screen Capture

At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the grading area of courses there is a "NEW" feature that allows quick and easy videos/screen captures. This is a great feature and I would really like to see that same feature in Discussion type assignments to make a quick video/screen capture reply vice having to create a video within Studio, save it, then upload it...too time consuming and inefficient. Request this feature be available for course assignments...not just in the grading section.

This is not really a new idea...the feature is already available and being used in our Grading area. I am just recommending that same feature be available within assignment interactions with students. Where specifically would I submit this recommendation? I am not really interested in checking out links...just would like an exact link (one) on where to submit this update so our University could implement. Thank you.

The reason I gave you the above links is because there are guidelines that you need to follow in order to submit a new idea for consideration.  I understand that you may not like to read through additional documentation, but I really do recommend that you at least look through the 4th bulleted link I provided in my earlier response...as that page will detail everything you need to know on how to create a new idea.

Since this is not a new idea...is the link you provided the correct place to request an already available feature be used in another section of a Canvas course. Currently the feature I am talking about is available in our Grading section...the request I am recommending is that same feature be available in assignments. Thanks for the video you linked to...very helpful!  My initial thought was to use this icon on your RCE (Rich Content Editor) ... which is just a few icons over from your Studio icon.  (My set of icons looks slightly different than yours, FYI.)

However, when I tried to use this tool in the RCE, there was no ability to do a screen capture like you had shown in your video recording.

While this is technically available in the SpeedGrader, I believe it would still constitute as a separate idea submission...because you are asking for new functionality in other areas of Canvas that already exist elsewhere.  When you create a new idea, it should search for similar, existing ideas.  If there was a similar idea that was already submitted, you wouldn't need to submit it again (to avoid duplication), but you could follow the idea so that you'd be able to vote in the future.  The blog link (last link in my initial response to you) describes the changes that are currently going on behind-the-scenes with the whole idea process, so you'll want to take a look at that posting from Instructure.
