Course Pacing Button - Please Add Button Back to Modules!

Hello all!

Last week I was attempting to showcase the Course Pacing feature to a group of VT faculty. Unfortunately when I went to showcase it, the Course Pacing button was missing from the Modules tool.

In troubleshooting, I found out that the Course Pacing button was moved to an item in the Canvas menu/toolbar. I spoke with 2 different Instructure support agents before having a 3rd L2 email me that the Course Pacing button has been removed from Modules and will only display in the Canvas menu.

I would like to request that the button be added back to Modules. An assignment MUST be in a Module in order to use Course Pacing, so it only makes sense to keep the button in the Modules tool.

@thackead I hear you and appreciate your opinion on this. We are getting ready to send a new and improved design to beta for everyone to play around with, and unfortunately we released the navigation change a little too early. While I understand your perspective, we did receive a lot of feedback from members of this group that the extra click was frustrating and that it wasn't as intuitive as having it in the navigation menu. 

I'd like to leave the link where it is so that you can play around with it in beta alongside the upcoming redesign and see if it begins to feel right to you. We'll definitely take a poll of the group to help us determine if we made the right call or if we should change it back.

I agree that there is value to having the Course Pacing button on the top of modules page as well as in the Navigation. I have a lot of teachers who are very particular about cleaning up their course navigation and constantly hide things, so that would give them another place to access it without having it in the Navigation. I also agree with the idea that because an assignment has to be in a module, that having the button at the top of the modules page feels natural.
