Hello Everyone,
There was an update to Chrome in the last couple day's that is causing issues with our Canvas system. What students are reporting is that when accessing class assignments that link to a 3rd party LTI tool, the link is missing. We've been able to replicate this ourselves but other than asking students to use a different browser we have no way to resolve it. About 65% of our users, students and faculty, use Chrome because it's generally the optimum way to use Canvas.
Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? Have you found anything about getting it resolved quickly?
Thanks,
Dean
Dean we are experiencing a different issue what we believe is related. Our instructors can not see their grade page when they click the link in the course menu. When we use a different browser it works.
Yes, we're seeing this as well but on a smaller reported scale. Instructure opened an internal engineering ticket to investigate why the new Chrome version is having this problem.
Instructor problem: Canvas gets stuck when editing (loading and showing a white empty window). It works after emptying the cache, but the problem comes back. No problem on Edge.
@kkaeser , Our faculty is having the same issue. Faculty can access using Edge or Firefox.

We also have experienced the problem with the Gradebook. Additionally we have noticed that EvaluationKIT will not load when you attempt to access it. Articulate lessons will not load on the Canvas pages. McGraw Hill Connect is not loading the content. There are most likely other LTIs with issues. We do hope that Canvas can get a fix soon. Currently Firefox is the workaround for us.
yes, when you click on a canvas link, say to edit and assignment or open the gradebook, the structure top and side are there, but no content. Just freezes. this has been going on for about a week. Before i could restart Chrome and it would let me through, but not for some things it just will not go through. Using edge which i do not like, but it is working.
Hey there, we've been running into this problem since 12/1 as well. There's a thread here that we've tried to put as much information in as possible:
Right now, the best workaround that we've been able to find is either stay on version 94 or 95 on Chrome as well as using a different browser (firefox, safari, edge). We lucked out that we haven't forced our students on chromebooks to update past version 92 so it's only our staff so far that has been impacted.
We have also experienced this issue but noticed it more within the "Conferences" section with lecturers unable to access previous Big Blue Button recordings and join any live sessions because the content is failing to load in Chrome. They are also unable to create new conferences.
It seems very temperamental - sometimes it will load and then other times it won't. Firefox and Edge seem OK but we promote Chrome as our recommended browser so need an update as soon as possible.
In addition I experience issues with quiz timer. It says:
Your browser connectivity may be slow or unstable. In spite of your browser's timer being disconnected, your answers will be recorded for an additional 5 minutes beyond the original time limit on this attempt.
This alert is not there when I switch to Firefox (at the same time, on the same computer, and on the same network).
Does this mean that the quiz timer is also affected by the Chrome 96 update?
