We know that you know what Monopoly is. It's that slow-paced game, where your Grandma's money is all yours because she rolled a 4 and not a 5. Total Domination. But what if, instead of stealing from your grandma, you could work together to stop global eradication by dominating a rampaging disease? What if, instead of just throwing some dice and counting combinations, you could rampage through the city of Tokyo, battling other monsters, for well, domination. And like Yahtzee, chuck some cool dice, but instead of numbers you get to breathe fire, use a train as a weapon, or shrink your foes? What if you could hop across the country, collecting cards only to claim railroad lines before your competition. Wait, that doesn't sound like fun. But we swear it is!
You may be familiar with old games, but InstructureCon is about new ideas with Canvas, and we want to also bring you new ideas about, well, having fun. If you haven't tried some new board games, you should. And you get to interact with Instructure Employees and peers from around the globe. If you have and you still read all of this, please free to come, interact, teach, and bring a board game of your own.
Most of all, let's have some fun on the last night of InstructureCon!
Oh man! If I were going to InstructureCon this year, I'd be at this event. I'd even consider bringing Munchkin, Carcassonne or Ticket to Ride. Sadly, I am not attending this year. Gotta let my co-workers have their turn.
We will be playing Ticket to Ride! It's one of my faves!
You will be missed at the conf overall, @Chris_Hofer , and def missed at game nite.
I just recently bought Ticket to Ride on sale, and I have one of the expansions. It's a great, quick-moving, game!
Fun! Heard about this from straigle during an Educause event earlier this year. Hopefully when I get up to Utah it will still be going on. My game group is getting King of Tokyo next. Looks like a blast!
My family and I have been playing the cooperative game Forbidden Island and its sequel Forbidden Desert. Super fun - would be willing to bring them if anyone is interested.
Well come and get your game on with us cgaudreau and get a head start learning King of Tokyo at #instcon Game Night! We got KOT about a year ago and love it. I like that it has a sufficient amount of strategy required to offset the luck of the dice rolls. 😉
@Chris_Hofer you will be missed. Perhaps we should get a remote game of TTR going?! Deactivated user just picked it up for her android and I have it for iOS... supposedly it is cross platform - Mac/PC/iOS/Android
Here's what we have to look forward to!

1 Blokus

That was a fun conversation. I had KoT and now have KoNY which is...different? Not sure it's better, just different. I might bring it on site just to have the alternative.
Or I could bring Le Havre if someone wants a dry game?
Bring it on! If one of the KoT table likes it a lot, maybe they'll like the variation!
Haha! Le Havre. I bought the game for iOS years ago when it came out but still do not know how to play. I'm in love with his Agricola game though, so I've heard that I'd like that one as well.
Will swag for next IntructureCon include custom meeples?
If there's standing room only in Kokopelli, for Game Night then I wouldn't be surprised to see some meeple swag love next year! That would be awesome!!
I don't know if we'll have a community badge for #instcon #gamenight attendees yet at this point, but if we do it should totally be a meeple rocking out! Stay tuned

That looks like a great list of games! For some reason, I'm surprised you don't have Takenoko though. Feed the panda!
I can bring my copy. I've only had a chance to play it 2-player so far!
Good call, Buddy. If Jordan doesn't end up with his own plan for making it present, I'll bring my copy in. ![]()
Bring it on jacob 😉
There are many fitting games that appear to not be present, like Instructures, and Zooloretto!
Yes, you are welcome to bring games!
We're not responsible for cards/pieces, but are VERY grateful for you sharing and leading a game at a table. ![]()
I'll bring munchkin! Sorry you won't be there
I'll bring/host munchkin
Munchkin is great! So much unpredictability. I've got most of the base games and their expansions. 🙂
I only have the original, thought I've played Zombies and Axe Cop. Love the humor in them!
Can't wait for games night!
Great to see Splendor already on the list. Thinking I might bring along Pandemic.
And yes, Cards Against Humanity would be a very bad idea ![]()
JR
I love cooperative games, we play Shadows over Camelot and Ghost Stories too. If you like cooperative games you might want to check them out. I'll come play Forbidden Island
We haven't tried that one. I'll have to think about bringing one... they're just big enough that I would have to check them... and I'm not incredibly confident in checking smashable things ![]()
Forbidden Island does have that nice tin. I've traveled with it before.
So cool to see people jumping in and offering to bring their own games - game night is going to be huge.
I'll bring the domino game Spinner.
Deactivated user , au contraire, imo Cards Against Humanity would be a blast! 🙂 I'll be bringing at least one of the following - anybody feel free to express a preference:
Pairs
The Metagame
Gloom
Cards Against Humanity
Bananagrams
I've got some Flux! Now to decide which version to bring.....
Ok, I feel like I'm from another planet!! Have no idea what any of these games are *≥* ............ Are old folks allowed? Should I be embarrassed to say that Scategories is my fav game?
I've got the resistance and one night ultimate werewolf packed in my carryon!
Hi Dawn! I can relate! When my friends first introduced me to this new world of games I was lost! But there are some really great titles here and I assure you it will be fun!
Try Ticket to Ride (easy to learn, fun to play, very addicting!) and Pandemic (a little harder to learn, but, oh, it makes you want to master it).
We'll have plenty of Instructure staff on hand to help people choose and learn games. Plus many Canvas users are gamers, too; anyone there can help you get into a game. Come play!
-Carrie
Will do!!
Ticket to Ride is fantastic! It's a fast-paced game, and there's some good strategy in it, too!
Arrggghhhh... I should have brought my Monty Python Flux!! ![]()
Next time!
JR
I'm in the same boat, @dawn_wendland but I'm looking forward to it. See you there!
Cheers to a good time everyone!
PHOTOS!
Game night!
We were there until 1:00am playing Werewolf and other games! SO much fun!
THANKS, GAMERS!!!
Such awesome, so game, very happiness.
I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play Pandemic, and a group of us even won once!
I know instcon instcon15 is over and so is game night, but last night I just found this and wanted to share...an "Oz" version of "Munchkin"!!! My local Target will have it in stock early August! Can't wait!
