Introduction:

Amazon provides grants for free labs/training cloud, open course content, and online and in-person communities for educators and educational institutions.

Details:

When Amazon first started to provide cloud services, they realized that they couldn't find enough employees to hire that have cloud skills. So, they created a program called AWS Educate that provides grants to educators and educational institutions for AWS.

AWS Educate includes:

  • Labs/training cloud and AWS products
  • Open course content
  • Communities online and in person
  • Jobs and internships (to come)

Educators and/or institutions can create an AWS Educate Starter account that provides access to

  • Amazon video direct-video
  • Kindle textbook creator-publishing
  • Alexa skills kit-voice enabled apps

Conclusion:

Most educators I know are interested in checking out free services and content for their students and everything is in or moving to the cloud. AWS Educate resources could help educators prepare students for the real world.
