The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.

It's pretty late here at the Spy Headquarters...and chow time will come early in the morning. But before I do anything else, I wanted to do a brief brain dump from today. I plan on more detailed blogs in the future, but for now - here are some quick thoughts on my first full day at instcon:
Thanks for these fun notes... and what a gorgeous picture! ENJOY!!! 🙂
Thanks for the kind words, Kenneth! We had a great time presenting and fielding questions. I think there are a lot of great opportunities for community collaboration around understanding Canvas data. We got a lot of cool ideas out of the session from the audience and would love to see the momentum continue here in the community!
Thanks for the write up, and for coming to our session! It's nice to hear a bit about some of the other sessions that we missed yesterday. And I'll echo the thoughts of @alexander_kark1 about getting some great ideas from the audience during our session. Let's keep the momentum going!
Great notes!
Thanks for sharing your notes!!
I love the idea of using the Community to take notes! @baujac
Thanks, @rislis ! A lot happened yesterday, and I needed to get it all down. There's certainly some sessions that warrant individual blogs, but I felt like giving a brief overview if my personal experience of the day might be helpful to at least one person!
It was great fun chatting with you, @kenneth_rogers !
I enjoyed talking to @kenneth_rogers as well, but I somehow missed you altogether, stefaniesanders!
I thought the same thing, @dhulsey --and I was astonished to learn that you were at Hack Night! So was I! (You were with us anyhow since you were prominently featured in our Rogue Agents presentation.)
@kona told me about the community presentation. It sounds great! I decided to truly go rogue during that session and took my kids paddle boating. Anyway, maybe I will see you next year!
Wow, Dallas, how did you manage that? Because, I ran into you seemingly everywhere! Come to think of it, I mostly ran into Stefanie at the Community booth which was quite well hidden this year, so perhaps you never made it there - it would have required a diligent search, I assure you.
Kelley
Nope, I had a great conversation with @dhulsey in the Community booth on Thursday right before lunch.
Yeah, my wife and children spent their days in Keystone ordering pizza, soaking in the hot tub, and taking walks. They had a great time, so, yeah, we might all come again next year.
You speak the truth, Kelley. I did not know where the community tent was until I saw Scott Dennis at Hack Night and asked him if Stefanie was even in Keystone.
If we'd had had a QR code and a badge, I bet we would've been found! Those badge chasers were relentless! I heard some even paddled out to the middle of the lake for a QR code!
Yeah, I did that, but still only got 10 of 22 😞 I didn't realize they were throwing them on the screens once a Keynote finished.
Hahaha... yep, we definitely set things on fire... 😉
While we're on the subject of Community tips, I'll share one here that I demonstrated to as many people as time allowed last week:
Navigate to your Jive preferences (click on the arrow to the right of your avatar and select Preferences), scroll all the way to the bottom, enable High-contrast color scheme, and save. I think you'll like it--but hey, if you don't, just change it right back. ![]()
I'm still rocking mine, stefaniesanders! You can even see it in the screenshot I put up on my https://community.canvaslms.com/community/instcon/2017/blog/2017/07/28/conversation-onsearch?sr=sear... blog. ![]()
Yep, I see it, @kenneth_rogers --and I think it looks awesome! Hope others like it as much as we do.
And if anyone has a super panda sticker that needs a good home... I'm an excellent mother (of pandas). Just saying...
Paging Mr. @rseilham . Mr. Seilhamer. Mr. Seilhamer.
Message me your address and I'll make sure you get one. (:
Can you please have a T-Shirt that says "mother of pandas" with some GOT photoshopping?
I would wear that every day.
Every day? :smileysilly:
Every day, and twice on Sundays! (Especially if it can be long-sleeved...)
I second that!
