Copying New Quizzes

I am trying to copy a "New Quiz" from one course to another and every time I copy it over, the content does not come with it.  The name and amount of points are all that carry over.  None of the questions copy.  What am I missing?

I go to the quiz I want to choose, go to the right side and pick copy quiz.  I choose where the quiz is to be copied to and select copy.  Then when I go to the course that it should have copied to, it doesn't have any of the questions in the quiz.

Unfortunately, I was unable to replicate things in my own sandbox course.  I followed your steps...using the "Copy to" function on the "Quizzes" page to copy a New Quiz from my sandbox course to another course that I am also enrolled in as a "Teacher" (I am an admin for our school's Canvas environment).  After I used the "Copy to" function, I navigated over to the destination course where I had copied the New Quiz to.  The quiz copied successfully, and when I clicked on the "Build" button in the quiz to see if the questions were all there, things looked all good.  I'm not sure what would be different on your end, but it might not be a bad idea to contact the Canvas Help Desk folks to see if they have any other ideas for you.  How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)

Hi Cassandra,

Just wondering if you could tell me how you solve this issue as I am having the same problem. I can copy most quizzes from one course to another but there are 2 that when copied over the content is missing. They are not tied to any item banks so your solution would be helpful.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using the standard "Copy to" and selecting my new course. The name, dates of access, and points transfer, but the entire build of the quiz is blank.

Hi Cassandra, 

Would you mind sharing what the problem and solution was? We are copying a new quiz A (no item banks), but the copy B doesn't contain the latest version of the questions. Copy B contains errors that have been rectified in Quiz A. It seems that copy B contains a first draft of Quiz A.

I too am having this problem. Create a large quiz. Copy to another section of my course (different Canvas site). Shows up. No content under description or build screen.

Hello @CassandraPresto 

With the quiz you are copying from one course to another, are the questions visible when you access the build screen? 

With this New quiz, are the questions in the original course tied to an item bank? if so you might need to export the quiz into a QTi file, then import it into the new quiz using the QTI Package. 

If needed, you can try and contact support to go over this process a little more in depth.
