Hey folks,
My college is transitioning from a home-built SIS to Banner (SaaS version). We're wondering how those with both Canvas and Banner handle cross-listings.
I have a hundred potential questions here, but wanted to leave this more open-ended, and just ask for experiences, procedures, workarounds y'all might be willing to share.
Random notes about our current setup, and what we're finding as we dig into Banner:
For those with Canvas + Banner + Cross-Listing active, how did you set up cross-listing, and is it working well for you?
Has anyone had issues with data from course cross-listed in Canvas not transferring correctly back into Banner, or causing other issues?
Thank you for any comments!
I'll aim to come back to you on this when I have a bit more time @PLDeMartini , however my primary view is that Crosslisting is an unnecessary process, and that as shipped it conflates content with cohorts.
It is entirely possible to have SIS based cohorts in the form of Canvas Sections - any content course can hold multiple sections, and content, comms and activities can also be distinguished by section as can assignments.
Crosslisting is vital for us but inefficient - if you have the opportunity to start from scratch with a good IT team you can do this much easier - I'll try and come back and add to this later
