There are no closed captions for videos recorded in Canvas using the Media Recorder on the RCE, therefore I would like to disable the recorder so teachers will only use links to the captioned videos they create outside of Canvas.
I would like to disable it from the RCE but allow it for grade book comments.
Alternatively, is there an option coming to include captions on the Canvas Media Recorder?

Hi @DonnaLove,
Under your root account -> settings area, there should be a checkbox option "Disable uploads to Canvas Media from the enhanced rich content editor". If you check that option (and click the update settings button), things should work exactly how you'd like.
Hope this helps!

Hi Chris,
I did disable that option but the Media tool with the upload/record option is still on the RCE toolbar. I will check with Support since you think that should take care of the issue.
Thank you for your help,
Donna
Hi @chriscas, I contacted Canvas/Instructure support, and they had me disable uploads to Canvas Media in all of my sub-accounts as well. That worked for me so I wanted to share the information here.
Thanks again!
Donna
