Embedding Images Using New RCE

Has anyone seen or reported issues trying to embed images into discussions using the new RCE? The images appear fine for me (admin), but when I masquerade as the instructor all I see is the Alt Text. No images.

This is an issue that several people have posted about on Canvas Release: New Rich Content Editor‌.

My teachers were having the same issue and it was suggested to set this feature to "Allow" instead of "On' while all the issues mentioned in the release notes are corrected.  This permission is set by the institution but click on your course "Settings" then "Feature Options" and locate "RCE Enhancements" and toggle to off (if you have access) if you don't have access to turn off you will just see "on".

I would also submit a ticket to let your local technology department that this is an issue.

This gets even weirder. If I masquerade as a student, I can see my own images, but not the other students. If I masquerade as the instructor, I see my own images, but not the students. If I "edit" the post with an image that isn't appearing, I see a broken image icon.

One issue that we are seeing is the inability to add images to Global Announcements.  We have a ticket open with support (05186803).

We have the same issue,  @Robbie_Grant ‌, and images posted to discussions, and other related SNAFUs.

I am going in and turning the puppy off until the engineers decide to fix it.

Hey Robbie,

I was testing this today, and I have a VERY tenuous solution. The image that you want to add to the Global Announcement could be loaded into the User's File space first. Then, go to Admin>Settings>Announcements, and create a new announcement. Create your announcement as normal, and embed the image from the "User Images" section. You may need to refresh the page if something fails (it is tenuous)...but it did work on my first Screencast attempt (see below):

Hi Rob,

I've found the same thing. Images and files embedded by instructors work fine, but anything embedded by students fails. As a workaround, if a student attaches the file (using the attach file in the bottom left), it works fine.

What I think is happening is that the files are being added to the user's "Files" area. Thing is, when attached, the url includes a "verifier" parameter which what I assume makes the link work. Files which are embedded, on the other hand, don't have this parameter and don't work as a result.

Interestingly, those with roles which can write into the subject files area, embedded files are posted in there, and all the students can see it. .

We are still experiencing this issue. Especially in Discussions.
