Excluding task sheet from TurnItIn

I am trialling marking assessments within Canvas and this requires me to annotate a task sheet as well. I have asked students to upload a task sheet in addition to their assessment but it is making them all appear to have high similarity. Is there a way to upload a task sheet to TurnItIn to be excluded as a means to reduce the similarity?

I used to be able to do it on our old system but cannot find a way to do it now.

The challenge is that the task sheet, even if the contents are different for each student, is serving as a type of template and that is making it difficult to evaluate it for originality.

Hi @NathanODONNELL,

Based on what you have described, you would need to create a second/additional assignment for only submitting the task sheet and set that assignment to not use Turnitin.

@dbrace Thanks for the suggestion. I would prefer them to be in a single submission so I can annotate them at the same time and export together for submission to the assessment authority. I was an option with safe assign back in the day

Agreed, based no my past experience with Turnitin, I don't think there is a way to exclude a document template form plagiarism detection.  A different plagiarism platform that we now use instead of Turnitin does have this feature though.  So it would really be on Turnitin to build this functionality into their system in the future.
