Home Page, Usable Space and the Right Hand Side

We encourage our staff to create home pages for their Canvas course rather than go straight to Modules. Most staff aim for the 'button' approach, usually inside some sort of table design.
Here is a front page for a Minecraft Club course:
Now I know I can increase the screen acreage by clicking on the hamburger icon on the left hand side.
My question concerns the right-hand side. If I am honest, I don't need those options. I have a link to the Calendar in the Homework button and course stream/notifications is not urgent. Students can see their To Do by altering the Dashboard or looking in the Calendar.
Is this ANY WAY WE CAN REMOVE those items on the right-hand side? It would make the menu far more impactful and stop cell 'buttons' from being stretched down the way. It is also such a waste of space...IMHO
Any novel ideas or suggestions, gratefully received.

Hi @GideonWilliams,
It's possible your school/institution already had the "new user tutorial" feature option enabled, which actually enabled the full-width option behind the scenes before this new separate feature. Judging by your screenshot, I believe this is the case. At full HD resolution, you definitely would have had additional white space to the right of the right column with the buttons without the full width being on.
Hope this helps explain things a bit!
