Is there a way for students to print their own completed quizzes? When I am in preview mode as the instructor, and choose a print command it only prints what is visible on the screen rather than the entire completed quiz.
- I'm using new quizzes
- My school uses Microsoft Edge
The reason I need students to print their quizzes (or save/print them as a pdf) is that new quizzes can't be seen by people in the observer role (i.e., their parents).
@SallySouthan as an instructor, there is a built in print feature - you can find more information here How do I print a quiz in New Quizzes?
Now I know that doesn't help with the use case you described above. We also have Printing quizzes from Canvas troubleshooting guide, but it sounds like you have tried the browser window print method.
I did find a suggestion solution provided by @rmurchshafer in an archived thread, here
Thanks so much for that reply. Unfortunately, I need each student to print their own completed and marked quizzes. People in the observer role (i.e., the parents of school students) are unable to see the new quizzes which is extremely frustrating.
Thanks again for trying :).
Hi @SallySouthan,
While I am not entirely sure of the exact reason, I believe the reason that Canvas does not support students having the ability to (natively) print their quizzes/tests/exams is because of academic integrity. Although, for the use case that you have described, I can understand how it would be helpful.
@Renee_Carney provided an option (a workaround) for something a teacher can do using classic quizzes. If you review the https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-view-student-quiz-results-in-New-Quizze... guide, this take you to a similar location for new quizzes.
What I do not know is if this method of printing (or saving as a PDF file) works for new quizzes. Can you try that method and let us know if it prints (or saves to a PDF)?

UPDATE: I just noticed that there are steps for printing in that guide. I apologize for missing it.
Thanks for the advice and links. As an instructor, I'm easily able to print quizzes. Unfortunately, I need the students to be able to print their own completed quizzes individually. This is because their parents are unable to see the new quizzes as observers.
Hi @SallySouthan,
I understand what you are trying to do and why. Unforunately, that functionality does not exist.
You can submit this idea as a feature suggestion and the directions to do that can be found at this link: How do I create a new idea in the Instructure Community?
